Full Day tour to Koh Ker/Beng Mealea
A combination of Temples and Bird Photography at Koh Ker/Beng Mealea is the most beautiful site for capture an amazing remote archaeological Koh Ker in northern Cambodia about 120 kilometres away from Siem Reap and about 80 species of bird could be seen in just one day. It is situated in dry Dipterocarp with some semi-evergreen forest. This kind of forest provides excellent habitat for wildlife. Birds potentially included 8 species of woodpeckers, Rufous-winged Buzzard, White-rumped Pygmy-falcon and Collared Falconet etc.
Beng Mealea means “lotus pond” is a temple in the Angkor Wat period. It was built as a Hindu temple, but there are some carvings depicting Buddha motifs. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps.
It also contains some good semi-evergreen forest that gives birders a chance to pick up some migrant species such as Hainan Blue Flycatcher, White-throated Rock Thrush etc.
What to Expect
Note:
This tour can be done all year. The top recommended tour especially for low/raining season. An amazing day out of Siem Reap to the remote temples where not many tourists have been there yet, at the same time enjoy seeing lots of forest birds more than 80 species.
