The guides were very knowledgeable and patient, making sure we got to see the birds
We signed on for a 5-day birding trip with CBGA and were completely satisfied. Since our birding in Cambodia was starting almost from scratch, most species were new to us, but beyond that, the two CBGA staff went to great efforts to get us to key species, some critically endangered. We found giant ibis (national bird of Cambodia), white-shouldered ibis and Bengal florican. Because of the multiple day arrangement, we visited very different habitats, including wet evergreen forest, dry deciduous dipterocarp forest, and grassland. There was different bird fauna in each area and the guides were very knowledgeable and patient, making sure we got to see the birds. The fee included all food, and also lodging once we moved out of Siem Reap. One day was spent birding among the temples of Angkor Wat, which was a treat. We were visiting in the early part of the wet season, not the prime time for birding, but still got to see many birds. We would definitely work with CBGA again. In addition to getting birders to birds, they are involved with programs to allow local rural communities to benefit from ecotourism and conservation efforts, actually aiding in biodiversity protection.
