Lest's hear what people say about Cambodia Bird Guide Association and their trips

The guides were very knowledgeable and patient, making sure we got to see the birds

We signed on for a 5-day birding trip with CBGA and were completely satisfied. Since our birding in Cambodia was starting almost from scratch, most species were new to us, but beyond that, the two CBGA staff went to great efforts to get us to key species, some critically endangered. We found giant ibis (national bird of Cambodia), white-shouldered ibis and Bengal florican. Because of the multiple day arrangement, we visited very different habitats, including wet evergreen forest, dry deciduous dipterocarp forest, and grassland. There was different bird fauna in each area and the guides were very knowledgeable and patient, making sure we got to see the birds. The fee included all food, and also lodging once we moved out of Siem Reap. One day was spent birding among the temples of Angkor Wat, which was a treat. We were visiting in the early part of the wet season, not the prime time for birding, but still got to see many birds. We would definitely work with CBGA again. In addition to getting birders to birds, they are involved with programs to allow local rural communities to benefit from ecotourism and conservation efforts, actually aiding in biodiversity protection.

Excellent birding in Koh Ker Beng Mealea and Prek Toal, Cambodia

First Class! We had an excellent couple of days birding with Thea from CBGA in mid December, this year. We saw close to 100 different birds in our two days of birding! Thea couldn’t have been more knowledgeable and helpful and went out of his way to find us some mega ticks. It is always fun to see familiar birds wearing different feathers! Thank you CBGA for some special birding!

Sophoan is an amazing bird and temple guide, and a wonderful person over all

I cannot say enough good things about the fabulous 3 days that we spent with CBGA in the Siem Reap area earlier this month. The entire experience, from the flawless online booking process to the excellent birding and temple tours, was phenomenal! We booked a half day visit to the Phnom Kroam wetlands, a full day at the Angkor Complex, and a full day to Koh Ker and Beng Mealea. I consider us to be extraordinarily fortunate to have had Sanh Sophoan as our birding and temple guide. It’s just not possible to overstate how wonderful she is! So’s spotting and identification skills are outstanding, she is a knowledgable, and entertaining temple guide, and her personality is simply delightful. Her passion for her country’s history and its natural wonders, and for ensuring that her clients have a wonderful experience, is very clear. I could go on and on, but I’ll close by saying that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend CBGA, and Sanh Sophoan, to anyone considering a trip to Cambodia!

Excellent bird watching and temple trip

Altogether a nice trip. We were there end of March 2018 for a week. Hotel at Siem Reap was excellent. We travelled in a comfortable, air conditioned SUV. Guide was competent. Saw alot of birds and firsts. Food was great. Day at Angkor Wat was perfect accompaniment. Highly recommended.

3 days tour for birdwatching and bird photo in Northern Cambodia, a great place for birding, with a large number of specie, where some are really very rare and difficult to find

In June 2017, I did a 3 days tour for birdwatching and bird photo in Northern Cambodia (Siem Reap and Northern Plains). It is a great place for birding, with a large number of specie, where some are really very rare and difficult to find.
Actually it is the second time that I spend time for birding with these guides. My guide from CBGA has an excellent knowledge of the places where to find birds, but also an amazing bird culture: he knows every songs and noises of any bird you may hear in Cambodia. Last but not least, the guide’s English is excellent, and he is a very friendly and sympathetic guy. It was a great pleasure to enjoy birding with him (he is as passionated as I am) and I’m looking forward to spending another bird tour with this association. Obviously, I strongly recommend CBGA and its guides.

The trip was flawlessly organized and well executed by their entire team

My wife and I recently did a 16 day trip with CBGA. The first couple of days at the beginning were with guide Yeat at the temples around Siem Reap. We really enjoyed the experience and found Yeat to be a kind and knowledgeable guide. The next two weeks were with bird guide Nara and driver Da touring some of the best birding sites in Cambodia. The trip was flawlessly organized and well executed by their entire team. We had a great time and saw over 300 species of birds including several difficult to see species. Nara is an expert birder and guide, and a lot of fun to be with. Thank you CBGA team for the exceptional trip.

Our friendly guide, Yeat, did an excellent job spotting and identifying birds, plus organising local bird guides and community meals

We just completed slightly customised 6 day CBGA tour from 29th Dec to 3rd Jan. Our friendly guide, Yeat, did an excellent job spotting and identifying birds, plus organising local bird guides and community meals. And our driver, Ran, did a fantastic job navigating the busy roads and rutted tracks leading to our birds sites. He must be one of the safest drivers in Cambodia, and we felt very safe and relaxed with his driving skills on Cambodia’s chaotic roads 🙂

We saw approximately 138 species of birds in various locations and habitats. Not only were we able to see some fantastic birds – in some cases rare and endangered species – but we were also able to witness the daily lives of people who live in river and lake communities on Tonle Sap, and in dusty, country towns near Ang Trapaeng Thmor, near Florican grasslands, at Tmatboey, and in several other towns we traveled through on our journey.

The money paid for the tours fee actually contribute to the community that’s really nice association

Birding with CBGA is quite good in which you’ll be arranged to visit the best part of the country for birdwatching, the habitats and the local culture around the place. We’re lucky to meet with our guide Naran Sopal Chen who got many years of experience in the field and he can recognise many species of birds calling. He tried best to locate the birds also using birds call recording which was quite effective in most cases. We’re both vegetarians and he always try to arrange nice food for us that’s quite appreciated. The money paid for the tours fee actually contribute to the community that’s really nice association. Overall we are quite happy with all arrangements and recommend for those who want to visit Cambodia for birding.
