Conservation status: Endangered (EN)

Identification: size: 120-152cm

Habitat: Marshes, lakes, paddy fields, freshwater flooded forest…

Feeding: Feed on carrion and large fish, up to 2-3kg, frog, bats, reptiles, large insect, wild duck, duckling, other birds,

Breeding: colony and normally 3 eggs, incubation 28-30days by both parents,

Threat: Habitat loss and detraction, disease.

Population:  BirdLife International estimated population now 800-1200. The oldest captive bird over 43 years old.
