Phnom Krom (PK)
Located about 10km South of Siem Reap city, Phnom Krom marshland is considered our best birding site we explore for a few hours when we do not have time for the full day trip. This open marshland with paddy fields, ponds, bushes, and grassland, stretches the edge of the Great Tonle Sap Lake, has many species of waders including Pintail Snipe, Oriental Pratincole, Jacana, Swamphen, bitterns, egrets, herons, and waterfowl.
About 40 species of common bird species usually be seen during this few hours tour. Birding at Phnom Krom marshland is available all year round and either in the morning from 5.30am to 9.30am or in the afternoon from 3 pm to 6.30 pm.
It is best for visitors who want an easy half day tour involving only 20 minutes to travel each way.
