Full day trekking to Kbal Spean
For travelers looking to get fully immersed in a new destination, our hiking offer the ultimate opportunity to soak in your surroundings—and engage in a thrilling physical challenge. Much of the forest has been degraded but there are protected areas where bird life is abundant.
Angkorian lingas or phallic symbols were carved into the riverbed at Kbal Spean to ensure the fertility of the lake and the potency of the King. Angkor Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (ACCB) is located at Kbal Spean. The Center rescues illegally hunted birds and animals, providing a refuge until they can be returned to the wild. Cambodian wildlife is understandably shy and ACCB gives you a chance of seeing native animals and birds.
We will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 5.30am (packed breakfast provided). The tour begins with a drive for about an hour before arriving at the temple site ticket office where you will get your pass. We will the drive north for another hour You will spend about 2 hours birding round the Dry Decidous forest (DDF) looking for some forest species especially woodpeckers, Parakeets and Prinias. About 9.30am you will walk to the hill, birding along the way, and climb the path to see the lingas. At 11am you will head back down the hill to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. At 1.00pm there will be a fascinating guided tour of the ACCB learning about its conservation work. Then you will be taken to the Banteay Temple where a sharp eye will find yet more birds. The tour will finish at 5.30pm.

What to Expect
- We will arrive back in Siem Reap around 5 pm. We can either take you back to your hotel or to another destination of your choice in town.
- Other things to bring: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
- CBGA will provide drinking water in a big container to refill, so we request you to bring your own water bottle from home or from your hotel. It is our campaign to reduce plastic waste.
